“COAS is not requesting nor accepting an extension,” ISPR DG Major General Babar Iftikhar stated at the Formation Commanders Conference, Thursday.
The army chief will retire on November 29, he added.
When questioned about the no-confidence vote and Imran Khan, he said the PM’s office sought COAS for support on Sunday.
He was also disappointed that politicians could not communicate. This is why the army commander and the DG met with Imran Khan to explore possibilities.
He stated he could not comment about the meeting’s content owing to confidentiality concerns, but what they could share was released in an ISPR statement.
