Chinese Leadership Praises Pakistan’s Role in Regional Peace and Stability
BEIJING – Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir conducted a significant official visit to China this week, reinforcing the long-standing strategic and defence partnership between Islamabad and Beijing. The visit featured high-level engagements with key Chinese political and military leadership and underscored shared commitments to regional stability, counterterrorism, and defence modernization.
During his stay in the Chinese capital, Field Marshal Munir met with Vice President Han Zheng and Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The discussions covered a broad spectrum of issues including the evolving regional and global security dynamics, cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and mutual approaches to geopolitical challenges.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), both sides reaffirmed their commitment to a strong bilateral relationship grounded in sovereign equality, mutual respect, and multilateral cooperation. The Chinese leadership lauded Pakistan’s armed forces for their central role in preserving peace and order in South Asia, describing them as a cornerstone of regional security.
Defence Cooperation and Strategic Dialogue with PLA Leadership
On the military front, the COAS engaged in detailed talks with top officials of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), including General Zhang Youxia, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission; General Chen Hui, Political Commissar of the PLA Army; and Lieutenant General Cai Zhai Jun, Chief of Staff of the PLA Army.
A guard of honour was presented to Field Marshal Munir upon his arrival at the PLA Army Headquarters in recognition of the growing defence ties between the two countries.
The military discussions focused on enhancing operational interoperability, expanding counterterrorism cooperation, and developing joint training programs. Both parties agreed on the urgency of confronting hybrid warfare, transnational threats, and cyber challenges through coordinated strategic efforts and stronger institutional linkages.
China’s military leadership expressed complete confidence in the resilience and strength of the Pakistan-China defence alliance and appreciated Islamabad’s consistent contributions to regional peace and cooperation.
Field Marshal Munir thanked China for its steadfast diplomatic and military support, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to deepen bilateral collaboration across all military domains.
