WASHINGTON: The United States is planning to deploy additional F-16 Fighting Falcon and F-35 Lightning II fighter jets to the Middle East as tensions with Iran continue to rise, according to a CNN report published on Monday citing a US official.
The report said the planned deployment also includes additional aerial refuelling aircraft, which would support extended air operations across the region. According to CNN, the aircraft are expected to be repositioned from existing US bases in Europe.
