Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has questioned the medical report of PTI founder Imran Khan. He expressed reservations regarding the government-issued health assessment.
While speaking outside the Supreme Court, CM Afridi said serious doubts surrounded the report. Therefore, he called for greater transparency in the medical evaluation process.
He also urged the Islamabad High Court to hear cases related to Imran Khan without delay. According to him, the judiciary should ensure swift justice in the matter.
PTI Leadership Voices Concern
Meanwhile, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja criticized the lack of progress on the party’s requests. He stated that no meaningful action had been taken over the past year.
He further claimed that Imran Khan’s eye condition had continued to worsen. According to him, only routine eye drops had been administered for treatment.
Salman Raja argued that there was no justification for keeping Imran Khan behind bars any longer. Consequently, he emphasized the need for a fair and urgent review.
Senate Debate Over Health Rights
The issue also surfaced during a Senate session marked by protests from PTI lawmakers. The session was chaired by Presiding Officer Waqar Mehdi.
During the proceedings, Senator Rana Sanaullah addressed concerns about medical rights. He stated that health and medical treatment are fundamental rights of every human being.
Moreover, he warned against politicizing a person’s health condition. According to him, turning health matters into political issues constitutes a serious wrongdoing.
His remarks came amid a charged atmosphere in the upper house. Nevertheless, he maintained that access to treatment should remain above political disputes.
Legal and Political Implications
The Imran Khan medical report controversy has intensified political debate. On one side, PTI leaders demand judicial intervention and transparency. On the other hand, government representatives emphasize fundamental health rights.
CM Afridi’s public statement has added further attention to the matter. Meanwhile, party officials continue to press for legal review.
As the issue unfolds, the role of the courts remains central. Therefore, upcoming judicial proceedings may shape the direction of this ongoing dispute.
The situation highlights broader tensions between political accountability and human rights concerns. Consequently, the matter continues to draw national attention.
