Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Yahya Afridi has accepted an appeal seeking the hospital transfer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf founder Imran Khan. The decision sets aside the registrar’s objections to the petition. As a result, the case will now proceed to a formal hearing.
Supreme Court Clears Appeal For Hearing
Justice Yahya Afridi heard the chamber appeal on Friday. During the proceedings, he accepted the challenge against the registrar’s objections. Consequently, the court directed officials to formally register the petition.
The Chief Justice also ordered that the appeal be linked with the pending Uzma Khan case. Furthermore, he instructed the registrar to assign a case number to the hospital transfer petition.
Court Orders Early Scheduling
Justice Afridi approved a request for an early hearing of both petitions. He directed the court to schedule the cases without unnecessary delay.
Meanwhile, PTI founder Imran Khan’s counsel, Uzair Karamat Bhandari, appeared before the court. The Chief Justice instructed the lawyer to submit a duly signed power of attorney. The document will complete the required legal formalities before further proceedings.
The Supreme Court is expected to fix the matter for hearing after completing the registration process. The linked petitions will now move forward under the court’s directions.
