China vowed to protect the legitimate interests of Iran amid war with the United States. Chinese Foreign Minister said promotes dialogue between Tehran and Washington to end ongoing conflict.
Chinese FM Wang Yi made the remarks during a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi in Beijing on Wednesday.
Wang said China was willing to strengthen dialogue and cooperation with Iran during the current crisis.
“China is also willing to strengthen dialogue and cooperation with Iran, and safeguard Iran’s legitimate rights and interests,” Wang told Araghchi.
China urges restraint from Iran and US
Wang also urged Iran and the United States to maintain a rational and restrained approach as tensions continue to escalate.
“We encourage Iran and the US to stay rational and restrained,” he said during the meeting.
China has sought to position itself as a diplomatic channel amid the conflict between Iran and the United States.
Meanwhile, Araghchi travelled to Beijing for talks as diplomatic efforts continue to address the widening confrontation.
The meeting comes as regional tensions remain high following military exchanges involving Iran and the United States.
Beijing has repeatedly called for dialogue and diplomatic efforts to resolve disputes instead of further military escalation.
Wang’s remarks signal China’s willingness to engage with Tehran while encouraging both sides to exercise restraint.
However, the meeting also highlights Beijing’s broader diplomatic efforts to prevent the conflict from expanding further across the region.
China’s engagement with Iran comes as international efforts continue to seek a diplomatic path toward reducing tensions and protecting regional stability.
