PESHAWAR: In the wake of heavy rain wreaking havoc in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has taken steps to address the aftermath by announcing compensation for the victims.
Each deceased individual will be granted Rs1 million in compensation, while those severely wounded will receive Rs300,000 each. Minor injuries will be compensated with Rs50,000. The Chief Minister has also pledged compensation for those who suffered financial losses during the rain, emphasizing a comprehensive approach to supporting the affected population.
Furthermore, CM Ali Amin Gandapur instructed the Secretary of Relief to compile a detailed report outlining the human and financial losses caused by the heavy rainfall in the province. This initiative aims to provide a systematic overview of the extent of the damages and losses incurred, facilitating targeted relief efforts.
Acknowledging the severity of the situation, the Chief Minister directed district administrations, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority and Rescue 1122 to maintain vigilance and actively assist affected individuals. He assured the public that those impacted by the rain-related incidents would not be left alone and would receive support in every conceivable way.
The compensation measures and comprehensive response underscore the government’s commitment to addressing the immediate needs of the affected population, signaling a proactive stance in the face of natural disasters.
The heavy rainfall in KP has resulted in at least 21 fatalities, 37 injuries, partial damage to 97 houses, and the destruction of at least 30 houses, according to reports from the Provincial Disaster Management Authority.
