KARACHI: A restaurant in an upscale area of Karachi is facing backlash after allegedly denying entry to a customer wearing shalwar kameez.
The complainant, Abdul Latif—a practicing lawyer—claimed that on May 18, he was refused service at the establishment due to his traditional attire. He stated that a waiter told him food would not be served because of his dress code, and the restaurant manager described shalwar kameez as “cheap dressing.”
Latif further alleged that the manager threatened to have him forcibly removed if he caused a disturbance.
Following the incident, he sent a legal notice to the restaurant management. However, receiving no response, he has now filed a complaint with the Consumer Court, seeking legal action against the restaurant for what he describes as discriminatory and humiliating treatment.
