The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has accelerated development work in Islamabad’s Sector E-12 after recovering more than 1,000 kanals of occupied land.
CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Sohail Ashraf said the authority aims to complete the sector’s development within six months. The move could end a 37-year delay that has kept the project incomplete.
The CDA launched Sector E-12 in 1989, but development faced repeated delays due to land occupation and unresolved compensation cases involving local landowners.
Recovered Land Clears Major Development Hurdle
The civic authority recently conducted an operation to recover occupied land and has retrieved more than 1,000 kanals worth billions of rupees. Officials said the recovery has removed a major obstacle to development work.
The CDA also handed over around 15 allotment letters to local landlords. The authority has promised to address genuine outstanding compensation cases linked to the sector.
Development has already progressed significantly in three sub-sectors. Meanwhile, the CDA has shifted its attention towards the stalled Sub-Sector 4 to continue infrastructure work.
Roads And Civic Facilities Planned For Sector
The authority plans to develop roads, municipal infrastructure and other civic facilities for future residents. Officials said the recovered land has allowed work to move forward after decades of delays.
Ashraf credited the CDA team and Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi for supporting efforts to recover the occupied land.
However, development remains pending in several other sectors, including C-13, C-15, C-16, D-13, E-13 and F-13. The CDA has yet to resolve compensation cases that continue to affect development in these areas.
