ISLAMABAD: The Canadian High Commission in Pakistan has warned citizens against immigration fraud, cautioning that no individual or organisation can guarantee approval of a Canadian visa or Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA).
In a public advisory issued today, the Canadian High Commission said scammers were contacting applicants through emails, phone calls and text messages, falsely claiming they could secure Canadian travel authorisation.
The mission urged Pakistanis to remain vigilant and avoid individuals or agencies promising guaranteed visa approvals in exchange for money.
The warning comes as many Pakistanis seek opportunities to travel, study, work or settle in Canada. Fraudsters often exploit these ambitions by offering unrealistic guarantees and demanding payments for services they cannot deliver.
The high commission advised applicants to consult the Canadian government’s official website for accurate immigration information and guidance on identifying fraudulent offers.
Canadian immigration authorities also caution applicants against websites that imitate official government platforms, demand unnecessary payments or promise faster processing and guaranteed entry.
Applicants should verify the credentials of immigration consultants before hiring them and avoid sharing personal or financial information with unverified individuals.
The Canadian government provides official application forms and guidance online, and applicants do not need to hire a consultant to submit applications.
Authorities stressed that visa and eTA decisions rest with the relevant Canadian authorities, not private agents or consultants.
The advisory aims to protect prospective travellers from financial losses and identity theft while encouraging them to use official channels for immigration applications. Pakistanis planning to visit Canada should carefully verify all offers before making payments or submitting sensitive documents.
