Cambridge International Education has officially admitted that its AS-Level Mathematics Paper 12 was shared prematurely, breaking strict exam rules. The confirmation came on Thursday after angry parents and students raised serious concerns on social media about the fairness of the ongoing examinations.
The leaked paper, code 9709, was taken by students across Pakistan, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and South Asia. Reports suggest the paper started circulating on social media and messaging apps just hours before the exam. Many students and parents expressed deep frustration, especially since high examination fees add extra pressure on families.
Cambridge Vows to Protect Students and Exam Integrity
In its statement, Cambridge said it investigates such incidents quickly and thoroughly. Officials are now working hard to understand how far the leak spread and what steps they should take next. The organisation made it clear that protecting students remains their top priority.
Cambridge assured everyone that it will take every possible measure to safeguard the integrity of its exams. At the same time, it advised candidates to keep preparing and appear for their upcoming papers without worry. The board promised to share a further update on its progress by May 7.
This is not the first time Cambridge papers have faced leakage issues in Pakistan. Last year, parts of three AS and A-Level papers were leaked, after which Cambridge offered free resits in the November 2025 session to affected students.
