Mega Motor Company (MMC), BYD’s official partner in Pakistan, has received over 500 applications for its women’s running initiative, She Runs. The company recently held the programme’s final selection event at Ramada Creek in Karachi.
The initiative aims to encourage greater female participation in long-distance running. Moreover, it provides aspiring athletes with professional coaching, structured training and dedicated support ahead of the BYD Karachi Marathon 2027.
Out of more than 500 applicants, organisers shortlisted 50 women for the final selection round. The candidates participated in several physical and fitness assessments to demonstrate their endurance and athletic abilities.
Ten Women Selected For She Runs Programme
The selection event featured a 10-kilometre endurance run, warm-up and cool-down exercises, fitness assessments and interviews. Candidates also underwent medical evaluations before organisers announced the final selection.
Following the assessment process, the organisers selected 10 women for the programme. These participants will now receive professional guidance through a structured 10-week marathon training programme.
The training process will be led by Shah Faisal Khan, Co-Founder of Platinum Fitness and an experienced strength and conditioning coach. He will work alongside Uzma Abid, a marathon runner and running coach associated with UESCA and MatrixFit.

The BYD Karachi Marathon will take place on January 3, 2027. Meanwhile, the She Runs programme aims to create more opportunities for women interested in pursuing long-distance running.
Anum Abdullah, Senior General Manager at MMC, welcomed the overwhelming response. She said the applications highlighted women’s interest and potential in sports.
She added that the initiative aims to turn ambition into achievement through professional support. Consequently, MMC hopes to encourage more women to embrace running and healthier lifestyles.
