Netflix has confirmed three new recurring cast members for the upcoming season.
Tega Alexander will play Christopher Anderson.
The character is the son of Lord Marcus Anderson and is described as a charming but emotionally uncertain bachelor.
Christopher is expected to bring a fresh presence to London’s social season.
Jacqueline Boatswain has joined the cast as Helen Stirling, Michaela’s mother.
Helen is described as lively, strong-minded and deeply involved in her daughter’s future.
She will guide Michaela through the social season while occasionally placing pressure on her personal choices.
Gemma Knight Jones will appear as Lady Elizabeth Ashworth.
Elizabeth is Michaela’s longtime friend and trusted confidante.
The character understands the hidden rules of high society and will help Michaela navigate life in London.
All three newcomers will have connections to Francesca and Michaela’s developing storyline.
Netflix has confirmed that filming has begun but has not yet released a complete Season 5 cast list.
Nicola Coughlan Confirms Reduced Season 5 Role
Several familiar characters are expected to appear, although not every returning actor has been officially confirmed by Netflix.
Nicola Coughlan has confirmed that she will return as Penelope Bridgerton.
However, her screen time will be significantly reduced.
Coughlan explained that Season 5 had already started filming and that she would not appear extensively.
She still described Bridgerton as a welcoming production and said she remained happy to return.
The reduced role reflects the series’ rotating structure, which places a different romance at the centre of each season.
Penelope and Colin Bridgerton previously led Season 3 and remained important during the following chapter.
Their involvement will now become more limited as Francesca and Michaela move into the spotlight.
Ruth Gemmell, Golda Rosheuvel, Adjoa Andoh and Claudia Jessie are among the established performers linked with the new season.
Members of the Mondrich family are also expected to remain part of the wider social world.
Reports have suggested that Jonathan Bailey, Simone Ashley, Luke Thompson, Yerin Ha, Luke Newton and Polly Walker could return.
However, Netflix has not officially confirmed the complete returning ensemble.
Victor Alli’s character, John Stirling, died during Season 4.
His death will remain central to the emotional journeys of both Francesca and Michaela.
Netflix has not confirmed whether Alli could still appear through memories or flashback scenes.
