ISLAMABAD: The Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) has advised beneficiaries to obtain Benazir SIMs only from designated BISP offices.
The programme warned that acquiring SIMs from unauthorized sources could create complications for beneficiaries using digital wallets.
BISP Issues Advisory
In a public advisory, BISP urged beneficiaries to ignore rumours, misinformation and misleading claims about Benazir SIM issuance.
Instead, beneficiaries should rely on official BISP channels for accurate information and guidance about the digital wallet process.
Moreover, the programme asked beneficiaries to contact their nearest BISP office for clarification and assistance.
BISP said it continues to prioritise the safety, convenience and transparency of services provided to beneficiaries.
Digital Wallets Set for Expansion
Earlier, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani said the government would provide digital wallets to all BISP beneficiaries by the end of 2026.
Speaking at the launch of Z-Wallet, Kayani said the government was working with public and private sectors to expand digital payments.
He noted that Raast had strengthened Pakistanโs digital payment system and improved access to electronic transactions.
According to Kayani, more than two million traders now use digital payment facilities, while digital banking users have reached 137 million.
Meanwhile, the government has offered subsidies on merchant discount rates to encourage QR-based payments. Kayani also highlighted progress in digitising government payments across the country.
