PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari clarified his recent remarks about the “state.” He said the statement did not refer to the establishment.
Bilawal explained that he spoke about the state in the context of national interest. He added that his comments were not directed at any institution.
Earlier, while addressing a workers’ convention in Muzaffarabad, Bilawal made the remarks. He said the state must prioritise national interests over political considerations.
PPP Supports Decisions Taken in National Interest
Clarifying his position, Bilawal said the PPP supports every decision made for Pakistan’s benefit. He stressed the need for political consensus on matters of national importance.
Furthermore, he said Pakistan’s regional role requires unity among political stakeholders. According to him, cooperation remains essential for addressing key national challenges.
Bilawal also raised concerns regarding the recent Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections. He said a more transparent electoral process would have been preferable.
The PPP chairman alleged that one party worker was killed during the elections. He also claimed that one seat was unfairly taken from his party.
PPP Alleges Electoral Irregularities in AJK
Bilawal alleged that polling stations in Chaudhry Yasin’s constituency were occupied. He further claimed that polling agents were forced to leave several stations.
As a result, he said the PPP would pursue legal avenues to reclaim disputed seats. The party intends to challenge alleged irregularities through constitutional means.
Moreover, Bilawal accused Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and federal ministers of violating election rules. He also alleged attempts to influence results in Gilgit-Baltistan and Mirpur.
The PPP chairman said he proposed a Truth and Reconciliation Commission for AJK. However, he claimed neither the government nor protesters responded to the suggestion.
Bilawal emphasised that peaceful protests must remain non-violent. He urged all sides to replace accusations with dialogue and reconciliation.
