ISLAMABAD: President Arif Alvi today administered oath to PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari who would be joining Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif cabinet as Foreign Minister of Pakistan.
The oath-taking ceremony was held at Aiwan-i-Sadr, where PM Shehbaz Sharif was also present.

The new government has kept vacant the portfolio of Foreign Minister amid reports that Bilawal Bhutto wants to be the next FM of Pakistan. Thirty-three-year-old Bilawal was elected to the National Assembly in 2018 for the first time. This is the first time he will be serving as a member of the federal cabinet.
While there was no immediate official announcement about Bilawal’s portfolio, his sister Bakhtawar Bhutto had congratulated him earlier in the day for taking oath as the country’s foreign minister.
Meanwhile, on PPP’s request, the government has appointed Hina Rabbani Khar as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and taken back this portfolio from Tariq Fatimi, just a day after notification.
As a Foreign Minister, Bilawal will be able to cultivate friendly relationship with different countries in the world, which can be useful for his party and his political career.
