PPP Chairman Calls for Democratic Authority
Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has called for greater political rights for the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
His statement came ahead of the second phase of elections for the AJK Legislative Assembly, scheduled for Sunday, August 2, 2026.
Bilawal said the people of AJK should enjoy the same democratic rights available to citizens across Pakistan.
He stressed that the most important right was the authority to choose their own government.
Bilawal described this principle as a simple democratic message: the people’s vote must determine the final decision.
He said Kashmiris should have the power to decide their political future through free and meaningful elections.
Bilawal Seeks Stronger Representation for AJK
The PPP chairman said the people of AJK should be represented in institutions that make important national decisions.
He specifically referred to bodies responsible for decisions related to water, electricity and other public resources.
Bilawal argued that Kashmiris must have a stronger voice when policies affecting their lives and economic interests are discussed.
He said elected representatives from AJK should be able to protect the region’s rights at every relevant level.
According to Bilawal, political participation should go beyond voting and include meaningful representation in national decision-making.
He maintained that the people of Kashmir should not remain excluded from decisions involving their resources and future development.
PPP Appeals for Support in Second Election Phase
Bilawal appealed to voters across AJK to support PPP candidates during the second phase of the elections.
He said a vote for the PPP would strengthen the party’s efforts to secure political, economic and constitutional rights for Kashmiris.
The PPP chairman presented his party as a platform committed to public rule and democratic representation.
He urged voters to use their ballots to shape the future leadership of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Bilawal said the election offered Kashmiris an opportunity to choose representatives who would raise their concerns and defend their rights.
The second phase of voting is expected to play an important role in determining the political balance within the AJK Legislative Assembly.
