Bilal Lashari’s The Legend Of Maula Jatt has won two awards at the 7th Jackie Chan International Action Film Week.
The blockbuster Pakistani film stars Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi. The 2022 action film continues gaining international recognition.
Film Earns Two Major Honours
Lashari announced the achievement through an Instagram post celebrating the film’s latest success. The film won the Special Jury Award and Best Art Direction.
The awards came during the closing ceremony in Harbin. The event remains one of Asia’s major celebrations of action cinema.
Lashari expressed disbelief while describing the emotional moment on Instagram. He also celebrated seeing his film alongside major international action titles.
The director specifically mentioned Mortal Kombat 2 and The Furious among the films featured at the event.
Rainy Ceremony Creates Memorable Moment
Lashari also described the dramatic conditions during the awards ceremony. Thousands of people attended the open-air event as heavy rain began falling.
He said the rain intensified just as he walked onto the stage. A stranger held an umbrella over him while he accepted the trophy.
Lashari said he became completely soaked while reaching the microphone. However, he described the unexpected moment as something directors dream about creating.
The Jackie Chan International Action Film Week began as part of the Shanghai International Film Festival. Jackie Chan launched the action film event in 2015.
The latest awards add another international achievement to The Legend Of Maula Jatt’s growing legacy.
