Panic gripped Islamabad’s Gulberg Greens on Thursday evening after residents spotted a Bengal tiger and two cubs in B-Block, Street 15.
The sighting alarmed residents and prompted the housing society’s security management to place the area on high alert.
Meanwhile, photographs and videos of the animals quickly circulated across community groups, increasing concern among families.
Security personnel intensified surveillance and advised residents, especially children, to remain indoors until authorities controlled the situation.
A security official said teams were closely monitoring the area and asked residents to immediately report any further animal sightings.
Another official said security teams remained fully engaged and had adopted precautionary measures to protect residents.
The unusual incident also raised concerns about how potentially dangerous wild animals could enter populated residential communities.
Residents demand action over exotic animals
Several residents expressed concern about their children’s safety and questioned the presence of dangerous exotic animals in residential areas.
Resident Syed Hasnain questioned the practice of keeping such animals as pets and urged authorities to enforce stricter regulations.
He said the incident should serve as a warning about the risks associated with keeping wild animals in housing societies.
Similarly, other residents questioned how families could feel safe if dangerous animals remained inside populated communities.
Residents also urged neighbours not to approach the reported location or gather there to photograph the animals.
For now, security teams continue monitoring the area while families keep their doors and gates closed.
The tiger and its cubs have therefore sparked renewed debate over wildlife ownership and public safety in Islamabad’s residential areas.
