Tรผrkiyeโs unmanned fighter jet successfully fires two guided munitions using onboard targeting system
ANKARA: Tรผrkiyeโs unmanned fighter jet Bayraktar KIZILELMA has successfully completed a live-fire precision strike test, scoring direct hits with two guided munitions in a major milestone for the countryโs indigenous defence aviation programme.
According to footage released by Baykar, the aircraft fired ASELSANโs LGK-82 and Roketsanโs TEBER-82 munitions during the test, with both weapons striking their designated targets accurately. The two systems are guided variants based on the Mk-82 bomb and are designed to improve precision strike capability in combat operations.
The test also highlighted the use of ASELSANโs newly integrated TOYGUN electro-optical targeting system, which handled both targeting and laser designation directly from the aircraft. This allowed Bayraktar KIZILELMA to detect, designate and engage its targets without relying on an external platform for guidance.
Onboard targeting system plays central role in strike test
Baykar said the successful firing trial demonstrated not only the aircraftโs weapons integration but also the effectiveness of its onboard mission systems. The TOYGUN EOTS enabled the unmanned fighter to carry out the strike sequence autonomously, reinforcing its role as a multi-mission combat platform.
The precision strike test marks another important stage in the development of KIZILELMA, which has been undergoing an extensive series of flight, sensor and weapons trials as Tรผrkiye pushes to expand its domestic unmanned combat capabilities.
Test strengthens Tรผrkiyeโs unmanned combat ambitions
The latest trial adds to a growing list of milestones for KIZILELMA, which has emerged as one of Tรผrkiyeโs flagship defence projects. Defence analysts view the programme as part of Ankaraโs broader strategy to strengthen self-reliance in military aviation and advanced drone warfare systems.
By integrating domestically developed munitions and targeting technology onto an unmanned fighter platform, Tรผrkiye is seeking to position KIZILELMA as a versatile asset capable of precision strikes, intelligence support and future combat operations.
The successful test is expected to further boost confidence in the aircraftโs operational potential as development and evaluation continue.
