PTI Chairman
In a significant turn of events, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, a legal representative for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has secured the position of the party’s new chairman uncontested, effectively replacing the incarcerated leader Imran Khan. This development unfolded as part of the PTI’s intra-party elections, conducted in compliance with the directives of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

The results, including the election of former minister Omar Ayub Khan as the central secretary general, were officially announced by PTI Election Commissioner Niazullah Niazi.
The intra-party elections took place under the oversight of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Presiding Officer Ali Zaman at the central polling center established in Peshawar’s Rano Garhi area. Notably, all candidates and panels participating in the elections emerged victorious without facing any opposition, marking a unanimous selection process.
A noteworthy absence in the nomination submissions was observed from Akbar S. Babar, a founding member of PTI, who, according to Niazi, neither submitted nomination papers nor maintained an active membership status within the party.
The Election Commissioner clarified that Babar’s opposition to the chairman’s candidate had been dismissed. Emphasizing their commitment to constitutional principles, Niazi affirmed their dedication to upholding democratic values and assured that no undemocratic measures would be taken.
The successful conclusion of the intra-party elections, coupled with the uncontested victory of Barrister Gohar Ali Khan as the new chairman, signals a pivotal moment for PTI as it navigates leadership transitions amidst legal and political considerations. The unanimous outcome also reflects the party’s adherence to democratic processes, as mandated by the Election Commission of Pakistan.
