The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced extended banking hours for Saturday, October 31, 2026, to facilitate taxpayers across the country.
The decision follows a request from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to ensure the timely collection of government taxes and duties.
According to the SBP’s instructions, designated commercial bank branches that normally operate on Saturdays will remain open until 8 PM.
SBP Extends Banking Hours for Tax Payments
The special arrangement aims to provide additional time for individuals and businesses to complete their tax-related payments.
Commercial banks have been instructed to maintain services at designated Saturday-opening branches throughout the extended hours.
However, the directive does not require every bank branch nationwide to open on Saturday.
The additional working hours will help taxpayers deposit government dues before the end of October.
Banks May Remain Open Beyond 8 PM
The central bank has also advised commercial banks to extend operations beyond regular hours when necessary.
This measure will support special clearing arrangements through the National Institutional Facilitation Technologies (NIFT).
The clearing process will help ensure timely processing of government receipts.
Online Banking and ATM Services to Remain Available
Meanwhile, the SBP has directed banks to maintain uninterrupted digital banking services.
These include internet banking, mobile banking applications, automated teller machines, and other electronic payment platforms.
The initiative will allow customers to complete transactions without visiting physical branches.
Taxpayers are advised to confirm their bank’s Saturday operating arrangements before visiting.
The latest decision reflects efforts to improve tax collection efficiency and provide convenient payment options for businesses and individuals.
