The Balochistan government has decided to accelerate a programme aimed at training 30,000 young people for employment opportunities abroad. Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti announced the decision during a meeting of the Balochistan Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (B-TEVTA) in Quetta.
The meeting also approved a separate plan to provide technical and vocational training to 25,000 young people by next year. Moreover, officials discussed ways to improve training standards and connect skilled candidates with suitable employment opportunities in domestic and international markets.
Government Expands Technical Training Initiatives
Bugti directed relevant departments to develop a comprehensive strategy for helping trained young people secure jobs after completing their courses. He stressed that vocational programmes must reflect modern technology and meet the changing demands of employers.
Furthermore, the chief minister called for stronger monitoring of technical institutions to ensure they deliver quality training. He also emphasised that authorities must connect trainees with practical employment opportunities instead of focusing solely on completing courses.
Officials informed the meeting that an Institute Registration Portal had become operational to improve the registration and monitoring of technical and vocational training institutions across the province. The digital platform aims to strengthen oversight and help authorities evaluate institutional performance.
Authorities Address Delays in Skills Programme
The meeting also reviewed progress under the Chief Minister’s Youth Skills Development Programme and identified delays in meeting several targets. Consequently, the government decided to take action against officials responsible for slow implementation and directed departments to accelerate their efforts.
Bugti said technical education could help reduce unemployment, strengthen economic independence and improve living standards among young people. Additionally, he stressed the importance of preparing candidates for international labour markets through relevant skills and improved training standards.
The initiative aims to expand access to employment and help young people contribute to economic development through skilled work. By improving vocational education and linking training with market demand, the provincial government hopes to create sustainable career opportunities for Balochistan’s youth.
