Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the four-country meeting followed a proposal by Field Marshal Munir. Tehran accepted the proposal, with discussions expected to cover the ongoing conflict involving the United States and Iran, Israel’s regional policies and instability in Lebanon.
The visiting officials are also expected to meet Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei, according to reports.
The diplomatic initiative comes amid escalating tensions across the Middle East and growing concerns about regional stability. The participating countries are seeking greater coordination and dialogue to address security challenges affecting the region.
Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir is set to attend a high-level regional security meeting in Tehran alongside senior officials from Saudi Arabia and Turkiye, Iranian state media reported on Monday.
The meeting will bring together Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, Field Marshal Munir and Turkish intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin with Iranian officials to discuss regional security and cooperation.
According to Iran’s Deputy Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Ali Bagheri Kani, the visit aims to advance the concept of “endogenous security” in West Asia, emphasising cooperation among regional countries.
Pakistan has maintained diplomatic contacts with regional partners as efforts continue to reduce tensions and explore possible political solutions to ongoing conflicts.
The Tehran meeting could provide an opportunity for Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and Iran to exchange views on regional developments and discuss ways to strengthen cooperation.
However, officials have yet to publicly outline specific agreements or outcomes expected from the discussions.
