LONDON: Pakistan Test captain Babar Azam presented King Charles with a cricket bat signed by members of the national team during a visit to Clarence House in London on Wednesday.
Babar joined the Pakistan cricket squad and Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi for the September 2 meeting with the British monarch as the team continues its Test tour of England.
During the meeting, Babar handed King Charles the signed bat as a commemorative gift from the Pakistan team.
Furthermore, the British royal family shared photographs from the gathering on Instagram, showing the King posing alongside Pakistani players and officials at Clarence House.
“This afternoon, The King welcomed the Pakistan National Cricket Team to Clarence House,” the royal family said while sharing photographs from the meeting.
Royal Meeting Comes During Pakistan’s England Tour
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s visit to Clarence House provided a break from a challenging Test series against England.
England have already secured an unassailable 2-0 advantage in the three-match series after recording convincing victories in the opening two Tests.
The hosts won the first Test by an innings and 103 runs before defeating Pakistan by 194 runs in the second encounter.
Pakistan Struggle With Bat as England Clinch Series
Pakistan’s batting performances have remained a major concern throughout the series. The tourists failed to reach 200 runs in an innings during either of the first two Tests, contributing to their successive defeats.
Consequently, Pakistan will enter the third and final Test seeking to avoid a series whitewash and finish the tour on a stronger note.
Despite the difficult results on the field, the Clarence House meeting offered the Pakistan squad a memorable occasion during its stay in Britain, with Babar’s signed bat marking the team’s visit to King Charles.
