An Azerbaijani woman, identified as Diana, reportedly refused to leave Pakistan amid an alleged gang rape investigation in Lahore.
Diana reached Allama Iqbal International Airport on Saturday but allegedly resisted efforts to send her back to Azerbaijan. She claimed police and other authorities were trying to forcibly deport her.
A video recorded at the airport also surfaced, showing Diana alleging that officials were preventing her from defending herself or arranging legal assistance.
Airport Incident Draws Attention
Sources said Diana created a commotion at the airport while insisting that she wanted to remain in Pakistan. Airport Security Force personnel later took her away.
However, no official statement from police or the Airport Security Force has confirmed her allegations regarding an attempted forced deportation. Further details remain awaited.
Earlier, Diana, 20, approached police after allegedly being sexually assaulted by three men in Lahore. Police registered a case at Defence C Police Station on her complaint.
Investigation Into Alleged Assault
According to the FIR, two women took Diana to a cafe before allegedly taking her to a flat. She claimed the suspects gave her an intoxicating drink before sexually assaulting her.
Police subsequently identified and arrested suspects in the case. A Lahore court granted six-day physical remand of two accused for investigation and DNA testing.
Meanwhile, Diana recorded her statement before a judicial magistrate under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code. Police also arranged her medical examination and later said the report indicated sexual assault.
Authorities have yet to clarify Diana’s status as the investigation continues. The case remains under investigation, with legal proceedings against the accused underway. Authorities continue investigating the case.
