Pakistan Complete Successful Run Chase
Pakistan women defeated Sri Lanka women by four wickets in the third and final T20I at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on Tuesday.
The touring side chased a 114-run target in 18.2 overs. Pakistan finished at 115 for six with 10 balls remaining.
The result gave Pakistan their first victory of the three-match T20I series. It also helped the visitors avoid a series clean sweep after Sri Lanka won the opening two matches.
Ayesha Zafar led Pakistan’s batting effort with a composed innings under pressure. The right-handed batter scored 39 runs from 31 deliveries.
Her innings included six boundaries. She kept the chase under control despite regular wickets falling at the other end.
Shawaal Zulfiqar also made an important contribution. She scored a quick 21 from only 12 balls.
Her attacking innings included three fours and one six. The partnership helped Pakistan maintain the required scoring rate during the middle overs.
Sri Lankan captain Chamari Athapaththu and Kavisha Dilhari claimed two wickets each. However, the hosts could not prevent Pakistan from reaching the target.
Momina Riasat Leads Disciplined Bowling Performance
Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and asked Sri Lanka to bat first.
The home side scored 113 for six from their allotted 20 overs. Pakistan’s bowlers maintained pressure and prevented Sri Lanka from building a strong total.
Athapaththu was Sri Lanka’s leading scorer. The experienced left-handed batter made 34 runs and struck five fours.
However, Pakistan continued taking wickets at important stages. Sri Lanka struggled to accelerate during the final overs.
Momina Riasat produced the best bowling performance for Pakistan. The 23-year-old claimed two wickets for 18 runs in four overs.
Her accurate spell restricted the hosts and gave Pakistan a manageable target. The remaining bowlers also supported her with disciplined lines and controlled fielding.
Pakistan End Sri Lanka Tour With Two Victories
The four-wicket win brought Pakistan’s tour of Sri Lanka to a positive conclusion.
Pakistan played three One-Day Internationals and three T20Is during the tour. The visitors finished with two victories from six matches.
Although Sri Lanka secured the T20I series, Pakistan’s performance in the final match provided encouragement for the team.
Ayesha Zafar’s controlled batting and Momina Riasat’s economical bowling were the major highlights of the victory.
Pakistan will now assess their performances from the tour as the team prepares for future international assignments.
