Authorities have initiated an extensive operation to arrest over 1,900 suspects allegedly involved in violent demonstrations, including the May 9 tragedy, the September 21 gathering, and the October 5 protests. Police have already apprehended 92 individuals from various locations, claiming they have ties to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The operation focuses on suspects linked to 65 cases of vandalism, rioting, and attacks on law enforcement personnel. Police officials stated that the effort aims to ensure justice and accountability. “We have identified individuals involved in acts such as vandalism and stone pelting against officers, particularly during incidents like the May 9 tragedy, using closed-circuit television footage,” said an official.
Authorities confirmed that the operation will persist until all suspects listed in police records are detained. These records include the names of 1,909 individuals wanted for their alleged roles in disrupting public order and attacking security forces.
The arrested individuals will be officially named in the respective cases following investigations. Police assured that the operation is crucial for restoring law and order while holding perpetrators accountable for their actions.
