On Friday, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif claimed that Imran Khan’s attempted assassination was being used to “achieve political objectives.”
He claimed that the matter was being moved in a direction where “no clue or suspect will be found” by “taking the names of government and military officials.”
Don’t make this incident a victim of politics, the Minister urged during a speech to the National Assembly (NA). Hunt down the suspects. Make up a JIT (joint investigating team). However, I will condemn it if this incident is being used to malign a person or organisation.
Khawaja Asif also criticised Punjab Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi for dismissing police officers after a suspect’s statement was leaked.
