LAHORE / ISLAMABAD: In response to the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) request, the Accountability Court in Lahore declared the former federal minister, Moonis Elahi, a fugitive due to corruption charges linked to development projects.

NAB has presented an arrest warrant against Moonis Elahi, a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader, in front of Judge Naseem Ahmed at the accountability court. The NAB spokesperson alleges that the former federal minister is evading arrest by going into hiding and has urged the court to declare him a fugitive.
Furthermore, Chairman NAB issued an arrest warrant for PTI leader Moonis Elahi on August 11, following the accountability court’s warrant. There were allegations of corruption amounting to billions of rupees in development projects throughout Punjab against him.
In a separate development, a Special Central Court in Lahore issued arrest warrants for Moonis Elahi in a money laundering case initiated by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). The FIA prosecutor stated during the hearing that Moonis Elahi deliberately failed to appear in court, despite court sending orders to various addresses in Lahore, Gujrat, Spain, and England.
On July 22, the Lahore district court declared Moonis Elahi, the son of PTI President Parvez Elahi, an absconder due to his continued absence in the money laundering case.
