LAHORE: On Tuesday, an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) approved bail for 29 additional suspects, including a woman, in the Jinnah House attack case. The ATC heard the bail pleas of individuals accused of participating in the attack and vandalism of Jinnah House on May 9, following the arrest of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan.
Among the granted bail were individuals such as Ayesha Ali, Bilal Latif, Muhammad Jahangir, Bilal Arshad, and Ahmed. The ATC judge also approved bail for Dost Muhammad, Hameedullah, Tayyab Jameel, Muhammad Amjad, Muhammad Rashid, Bilal Idrees, Shahid Mahmood, Muhammad Fayyaz, Nadeem Altaf, Muhammad Imran, and others. The ATC directed the suspects to submit surety bonds of Rs100,000 each.
The accused were allegedly involved in the attack and ransacking of Jinnah House on May 9, which triggered violent clashes across Pakistan after Imran Khan’s arrest from the Islamabad High Court.
Earlier, on Monday, the ATC had granted bail to 19 individuals in the same case. Those awarded bail included Naveed Feroz, Muhammad Akram, Altaf Hussain, Bilal Fayyaz, and Muhammad Kamran.
In a related development, the ATC declared 30 accused, including PTI’s Tahira Yasmeen and others, as fugitives in the Jinnah House attack case on February 14. The police had filed a plea stating that despite multiple calls, these accused individuals failed to appear before the court in connection with the Jinnah House attack case.
The ATC is set to pronounce a verdict on other bail pleas on Wednesday. The ongoing legal proceedings highlight the complexities and ramifications of the incidents surrounding the Jinnah House attack and the subsequent legal actions taken against the accused individuals.
