Security forces intensified counterterrorism operations across Balochistan after militants launched coordinated attacks at multiple locations. Authorities confirmed that at least 67 terrorists were killed during ongoing operations, while law enforcement agencies continued to pursue remaining elements linked to militant networks operating in the province.
Swift Response Foils Attacks in Multiple Districts
According to state media, militants carried out coordinated attacks at nearly a dozen locations across Balochistan early Saturday. Security forces responded quickly and prevented the attackers from causing widespread damage. Officials said police units, Frontier Corps personnel, and intelligence agencies worked jointly to contain the situation.
Security sources reported that operations launched since Friday morning resulted in the killing of 67 terrorists. Over the past two days, forces eliminated 41 militants in Panjgur and the Shaban area of Harnai district. In total, authorities said 108 terrorists have been neutralised across the province during recent intelligence-based actions.
Despite the successful response, the clashes claimed the lives of 10 police and security personnel. Officials said the fallen officers displayed exceptional bravery while defending civilian areas. Senior officials stressed that their sacrifice would not go in vain and reaffirmed the state’s commitment to defeating terrorism.
Civilian Losses and Emergency Measures
Militant violence also targeted civilians. Security sources said attackers killed 11 Baloch citizens in Gwadar, including five men, three women, and three children. The victims had reportedly travelled to the city for work. Law enforcement agencies later killed all militants involved in the incident, according to officials.
Following the attacks, authorities temporarily suspended mobile data services in Quetta, Sibi, and Chaman to support security operations. Voice services remained functional. The provincial government also imposed an emergency in all government hospitals across Balochistan. Health officials placed operating theatres on alert and deployed additional medical staff to handle casualties.
Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti visited the site of a bomb blast in Quetta to assess the situation. Senior police officers briefed him on the security response. Bugti praised the police and Counter-Terrorism Department for acting swiftly and effectively. He declared that the government would not tolerate any threat to peace in Balochistan.
National Leadership Reaffirms Resolve Against Terrorism
Federal leaders strongly condemned the attacks and praised the security forces. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar described the assaults as a desperate attempt by militants facing defeat. He said security forces remained alert and fully prepared at all locations.
President Asif Ali Zardari commended the armed forces and law enforcement agencies for preventing infiltration attempts. He paid tribute to the martyred personnel and expressed condolences to the families of civilian victims. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also lauded the coordinated response, calling it a major blow to militant networks. He reaffirmed that operations would continue until terrorism is completely eradicated.
In a separate incident, police recovered explosive material from a railway track in Nasirabad district. Bomb disposal teams neutralised an improvised explosive device before it could cause damage. Officials said such actions prevented further loss of life and disruption to public infrastructure.
As operations continue, authorities maintain heightened vigilance across Balochistan. Officials stressed that unity between the public and security forces remains critical in ensuring long-term peace and stability in the province.
