Pakistan’s Olympic Champion Secures Top-12 Finish
Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem has qualified for the men’s javelin throw final at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow.
Nadeem recorded a throw of 78.63 metres during the qualification round. The effort placed him seventh in the overall standings and secured his place among the 12 finalists.
Season-Best Throw Strengthens Medal Hopes
The 78.63-metre attempt was marked as Nadeem’s season-best performance. His qualification provides a major boost to Pakistan’s medal hopes at the Games.
The Pakistani star entered the competition as the defending Commonwealth Games champion. He won gold at Birmingham 2022 with a record-breaking throw of 90.18 metres.
Arshad Nadeem Set for Major Final Showdown
Sri Lanka’s R.T. Pathirage topped the qualification standings with 82.84 metres. Grenada’s Anderson Peters finished second with 81.29 metres, while South Africa’s Douw Smit placed third.
India’s Neeraj Chopra also advanced after registering 79.61 metres. Rohit Yadav and Yashvir Singh joined him in the final, setting up a highly competitive medal contest.
Nadeem will now aim to improve his distance in the final and successfully defend his Commonwealth title.
