Iran Condemns US Action and Issues Security Warning
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has strongly condemned the latest US military strikes on Iranian territory, warning that Tehran will respond decisively to any attack or threat against the country.
In a statement posted on social media, Araghchi said the United States had chosen to escalate tensions despite what he described as setbacks on the battlefield. He stressed that Iran’s armed forces remain fully prepared to defend the country and retaliate against any hostile action.
“Despite its defeats on the battlefield, the US opted to test our determination,” Araghchi stated. He added that Iran’s military would leave “no attack or threat unanswered” and urged Washington to withdraw from the region if it wished to avoid further confrontation.
The foreign minister also referenced the history of the Persian Gulf, warning that outside powers had previously faced serious consequences after becoming involved in regional conflicts.
Explosions Reported Across Southern Iran Following Strikes
Meanwhile, Iranian media reported multiple explosions and projectile impacts across southern parts of the country. According to local reports, incidents were recorded in Qeshm Island, Sirik, Minab, and Jask, all located in Hormozgan Province.
Authorities also activated air defence systems in Bandar Abbas, Qeshm, and Sirik as security forces responded to the situation. However, officials did not immediately provide detailed information regarding casualties or the extent of the damage.
The developments followed an announcement by US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirming that American forces had launched strikes against Iranian targets. US officials described the operation as a response to the earlier downing of a US Army Apache helicopter during heightened tensions in the region.
Consequently, the latest exchange has intensified concerns about a broader escalation between Washington and Tehran. Diplomatic observers warn that continued military action could further complicate efforts to reduce tensions and restore stability across the Gulf region.
As both sides exchange warnings, international attention remains focused on whether the confrontation will remain limited or evolve into a wider regional crisis.
