Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has accused Israel of undermining diplomacy with the United States. He described Israel as the main obstacle to a lasting ceasefire agreement.
According to Iranโs IRNA news agency, Araghchi said Israel opposed the proposed memorandum. He claimed Israel made repeated efforts to prevent the agreement from being reached.
He also accused Israel of attempting to ensure the agreement would ultimately fail. Furthermore, he alleged efforts continued to prevent its implementation.
Araghchi Rejects Claims Of Iranian Surrender
Araghchi also addressed US President Donald Trumpโs demand for Iranโs โunconditional surrender.โ He said the demand ultimately failed to produce the outcome Washington sought.
According to Araghchi, Tehran eventually accepted a ceasefire after continuing the conflict. He said Iran then entered negotiations with Washington on its own terms.
The Iranian foreign minister portrayed the negotiations as a result of Tehranโs resistance. He argued that Iran did not surrender despite pressure during the conflict.
Iran Says Ceasefire Came On Its Terms
Araghchi said those seeking Iranโs unconditional surrender soon requested negotiations instead. He claimed Iran continued fighting until the opposing side accepted a ceasefire.
Moreover, he maintained that Tehran secured negotiations based on conditions acceptable to Iran. His comments reflect Iranโs broader position on the diplomatic developments.
The remarks come amid continued debate over the ceasefire and negotiations. Meanwhile, Tehran continues to emphasize its role in shaping the diplomatic process.
