Pakistan Secures Historic Place at Miss World 2026
Pakistan is preparing to make its first official appearance at the Miss World pageant, with 24-year-old Anniqa Jamal Iqbal selected to represent the country at the 2026 competition.
The official Miss World website now lists Anniqa as Pakistan’s contestant for the 73rd edition of the global pageant. Her selection marks a new chapter for Pakistan’s representation at major international beauty competitions.
Anniqa was crowned Miss World Pakistan 2026 during a ceremony held at a hotel in Lahore. Dr. Shafaq Akhtar, who held the Miss Pakistan Universal 2022 title, presented her with the crown.
Mr. Pakistan World Ataullah Gujjar also attended the ceremony, which celebrated Pakistan’s entry into the international competition.
Although Pakistani women have previously participated in several global pageants, this will be the country’s first official representation at Miss World.
Anniqa Brings International Pageant Experience
Anniqa is already an experienced international contestant. She began her pageant career after being crowned Miss Pakistan World 2022.
Her first major international appearance came at Miss Earth 2022 in the Philippines. She later represented Pakistan at Miss Eco International 2023 in Egypt.
She also competed at Freedom of the World 2023 in Kosovo. Her performance earned her the Miss Photogenic and Miss Press awards, along with a fourth runner-up placement.
The competition marked Pakistan’s first participation in Freedom of the World.
Anniqa has also represented Pakistan at competitions including Miss Global and Miss Cosmo, giving her valuable experience ahead of the much larger Miss World stage.
Her previous appearances have required her to participate in interviews, advocacy activities, cultural presentations and public-speaking competitions.
That experience is expected to support her preparations as she competes alongside representatives from countries across the world.
Education Remains Central to Her Journey
Alongside her pageant career, Anniqa is pursuing a master’s degree in accounting and auditing.
Her academic background is expected to play an important role in presenting a broader image of Pakistani women as educated, ambitious and capable of succeeding across different international platforms.
Anniqa was born and raised in Denmark but has continued representing her Pakistani heritage internationally. The Miss Pakistan World organisation has described her journey as one built around cultural representation, advocacy and global engagement.
Her selection also reflects the increasing role of overseas Pakistanis in representing the country in cultural, professional and international events.
Thalassaemia Campaign to Lead ‘Beauty With a Purpose’ Project
Anniqa plans to use the Miss World platform to raise awareness about thalassaemia in Pakistan.
Her campaign will be presented under Miss World’s “Beauty With a Purpose” programme, which requires contestants to support social and humanitarian initiatives.
The project is expected to focus on greater awareness, support for affected families and the challenges faced by people living with the inherited blood disorder.
The advocacy component is an important part of the Miss World competition. Contestants are evaluated not only on their public appearance but also on their communication skills, social work and ability to promote meaningful causes.
Anniqa’s campaign could help bring international attention to thalassaemia and encourage wider conversations about prevention, screening and patient support in Pakistan.
Miss Pakistan Organisation Celebrates Major Milestone
The Miss Pakistan World organisation has spent more than two decades preparing women of Pakistani heritage for international beauty pageants.
The organisation was established in 2002 and has previously sent Pakistani representatives to competitions including Miss Earth, Miss Global, Miss International and Miss Eco International.
Organisation head Sonia Ahmed described Pakistan’s Miss World participation as a major achievement for national representation.
She said the selection showed that Pakistani women were proving their abilities on international platforms, just as they had succeeded in education, business, arts and other professional fields.
The organisation views Anniqa’s participation as the result of years of efforts to expand Pakistan’s presence in international pageantry.
Historic Debut Opens New Chapter for Pakistan
Anniqa’s participation is expected to attract significant attention inside Pakistan and among overseas Pakistani communities.
Supporters believe the event offers an opportunity to present Pakistani culture, fashion, talent and social causes to a global audience.
Her journey will also be closely watched because she will carry the responsibility of becoming Pakistan’s first official Miss World contestant.
The Miss World website has formally included Anniqa among the confirmed contestants for the 2026 competition, confirming Pakistan’s place in the upcoming edition.
For Anniqa, the pageant represents another major step in an international career that has already included several competitions and awards.
For Pakistan, it marks a historic debut and opens a new chapter in the country’s representation on one of the world’s most prominent pageant stages.
