Pakistan’s military has reportedly destroyed Afghan border check posts following an incident in Angoor Adda, South Waziristan, in which one person was killed and five members of a family were injured.
The incident has heightened tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, where security concerns and cross-border incidents have repeatedly strained relations between the two neighbouring countries.
Angoor Adda is an important border crossing in South Waziristan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and has strategic significance for security operations and cross-border movement. The latest developments have renewed concerns about the safety of civilians living in communities near the frontier.
According to the report, the military action targeted Afghan border positions after the civilian casualties. The destruction of the check posts represents a further escalation in an already sensitive border situation.
Cross-border tensions between Islamabad and Kabul have frequently centred on militant activity, border security and allegations that armed groups operate from Afghan territory. Pakistan has repeatedly called for stronger action against militants it says threaten its security, while Afghan authorities have disputed various Pakistani allegations.
The latest incident could add to diplomatic and security challenges between the two governments, particularly as both sides face pressure to prevent further violence along the frontier.
