Apple’s long-rumoured foldable iPhone could debut on September 9, bringing a passport-style design, ultra-thin titanium frame and features intended to deliver an iPad-like experience in a smaller device.
According to circulating specifications, the so-called iPhone Fold could use a 7.8-inch folding display alongside a 5.5-inch secondary screen, with a 4:3 aspect ratio. The device is tipped to measure around 4.5mm when unfolded and between 9mm and 9.5mm when closed.
Moreover, Apple is reportedly developing a liquid-metal hinge designed to minimise the display crease, potentially reducing its depth below 0.15mm.
A20 Pro Chip and Dual 48MP Cameras Expected
The foldable is expected to feature Apple’s 2nm A20 Pro chip, 12GB RAM and vapour-chamber cooling. Reports also point to a battery between 5,400mAh and 5,800mAh, alongside MagSafe support.
Meanwhile, the rear camera system could combine 48MP wide and 48MP ultrawide sensors without a telephoto lens.
A 24MP under-display selfie camera is tipped for the inner screen, while the outer display could use a conventional hole-punch camera.
Touch ID Could Replace Face ID
Apple could reportedly integrate Touch ID into a button instead of offering Face ID. Other expected changes include top-mounted volume controls, no Action button or physical SIM slot, and continued support for the Camera Control button.
Furthermore, the software could support side-by-side apps, multitasking and sidebars. Apple reportedly tested Apple Pencil compatibility but does not plan to offer it at launch.
Expected colours include silver and dark blue.
Pricing remains unofficial, with estimates suggesting $2,300 for 256GB, $2,600 for 512GB and around $3,000 for 1TB.
Apple has not officially confirmed these reported specifications or pricing.
