ISLAMABAD: Amritpal Singh, a prominent Khalistan leader, and nine other detainees have commenced an indefinite hunger strike within Dibrugarh jail in Assam.

Earlier this year, all detainees found themselves held under the National Security Act (NSA) in Punjab, following a dramatic series of events. The protest initially ignited due to the unjust restriction of lawyer access within the jail premises.
Adding to the fervor, Amritpal Singh’s wife, Kirandeep Kaur, has also initiated a hunger strike outside the prison walls, demonstrating her unwavering support for her husband.
Letter to Jail Superintendent
The detainees collectively composed a letter addressed to the Dibrugarh jail superintendent, conveying their discontent with the alleged interference by the Amritsar deputy commissioner (DC) in impeding their lawyer, Rajdev, from visiting the jail.
