An alleged militant commander and two other people died in separate incidents across Bannu district. Meanwhile, militants unsuccessfully attempted to destroy a key bridge using explosives, local sources said on Saturday.
Authorities launched investigations into all incidents. Additionally, security forces tightened measures across the district following the latest violence.
Operation Kills Alleged Militant Commander
According to the Police Peace Committee, security personnel killed Shahid during an operation near Kangar Bridge on Friday night. Officials identified him as the son of Mir Khatam and a resident of Wali Noor in Jani Khel.
Authorities alleged that Shahid closely assisted militant commander Akhtar Muhammad. Furthermore, they accused him of facilitating several terrorist activities across the region.
In a separate incident, police recovered two bodies from Domel Link Road. Authorities later identified the deceased as Ghazi Marjan and Parvez from Wanda Sarai Naurang in Lakki Marwat district.
According to preliminary reports, militants allegedly abducted and later killed both men. Police have started investigations to determine the circumstances behind the killings.
Bridge Attack Fails As Security Tightens
Meanwhile, militants attempted to blow up the Teri Ram Bridge on Miryan Road using explosives. However, the blast caused only partial damage to the bridge structure.
The explosion also damaged a nearby mosque building. Fortunately, officials confirmed that no casualties occurred during the attack.
Authorities strengthened security across Bannu following the latest incidents. They also continued investigations to identify those responsible.
Bannu has witnessed frequent militant attacks in recent months. Previously, militants targeted police personnel, civilians and jirga members across the district.
Last month, clashes killed 25 militants while four security personnel and civilians lost their lives. Earlier, a suicide attack at Fateh Khel police post martyred 15 police personnel.
