Ali Sethi and Shae Gill’s global hit “Pasoori” has crossed one billion views on YouTube, becoming the first Pakistan-made music video to achieve the milestone.
Coke Studio announced the achievement on Sunday and thanked listeners worldwide for supporting the song, singing along and helping transform it into an international phenomenon.
Released on February 7, 2022, “Pasoori” reached one billion YouTube views in less than four years and seven months, cementing its position among the most successful Pakistani music releases of the modern era.
Song Became a Global Streaming Success
“Pasoori” quickly travelled beyond Pakistan after its Coke Studio release, attracting listeners across different countries and cultures.
Moreover, Spotify ranked it as the most-streamed Pakistani song on its platform in 2022. The track also remains the most-streamed song for both Sethi and Gill, accumulating nearly 405 million Spotify streams.
To celebrate the YouTube milestone, Coke Studio shared a video featuring Sethi and Gill alongside producers Zulfiqar Khan, popularly known as Xulfi, and Abdullah Siddiqui.
‘Pasoori’ Expanded Its Reach Beyond Pakistan
Meanwhile, the song’s international popularity inspired numerous covers, performances and reinterpretations, further extending its reach across global audiences.
“Pasoori” also featured on the soundtrack of Disney’s “Ms. Marvel,” a series that prominently incorporated elements of Pakistani culture and introduced the track to another international audience.
The one-billion-view milestone represents another major achievement for Pakistan’s contemporary music industry and Coke Studio’s international reach.
Furthermore, the song’s sustained streaming performance more than four years after its release highlights its continuing popularity.
With its billionth YouTube view, “Pasoori” has now established a new benchmark for Pakistan-made music videos on the world’s largest video-sharing platform.
