PTI Leadership Dismisses Social Media Claims
Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, on Monday strongly denied reports circulating on social media claiming that the former prime minister had recently met a former army chief at Adiala Jail.
In a statement shared on social media, Aleema described the reports as completely false and dismissed them as misinformation. She said the claims had also been verified with PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, who likewise rejected the reports and termed them fabricated.
Furthermore, Aleema argued that the circulation of such stories was intended to divert attention from issues surrounding Imran Khanโs imprisonment and conditions of confinement.
She maintained that the PTI founder remains in isolation and has faced restrictions on communication and access to certain facilities while in custody.
The reports had gained attention over the weekend after widespread discussion on social media platforms regarding an alleged meeting at Adiala Jail.
Concerns Raised Over Access, Health and Family Contact
Alongside rejecting the claims, Aleema reiterated concerns about Imran Khanโs health and access to family members.
She alleged that he had not been allowed regular contact with individuals from outside the prison and raised concerns regarding his medical treatment, access to reading materials, and communication with his sons.
According to her statement, court orders permit scheduled meetings involving family members, legal representatives, and party officials on designated days each week. However, she claimed those arrangements had not been fully implemented in recent months.
Meanwhile, PTI leaders continue to call for the enforcement of visitation rights and improved access for family and legal teams.
Imran Khan has remained incarcerated since August 2023 and is serving sentences in multiple cases. He also underwent a medical procedure earlier this year at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences in Islamabad and has reportedly continued follow-up treatment since then.
Additionally, PTI supporters have frequently organized demonstrations outside Adiala Jail on court-designated visitation days, demanding greater access to the party founder.
The latest denial by Aleema Khan comes amid continued political debate and speculation surrounding Imran Khanโs imprisonment, health, and ongoing legal challenges.
