BNP Chief Deposits Cheque With National Assembly
Balochistan National Party chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal has returned all salaries and allowances he received as a member of the National Assembly.
Mengal visited the National Assembly Secretariat on Thursday and submitted a cheque worth Rs7,892,725. The amount covers the full payments he received during his parliamentary tenure.
He also submitted a formal letter to the secretariat. In the letter, he said the amount should be transferred to the national treasury.
Mengal Says No Payments Withdrawn After Resignation
According to the letter, Mengal returned salaries and allowances for the period from September 3, 2024, to February 11, 2026.
He said he had not withdrawn any salary or allowance after resigning from the National Assembly in September 2024.
Mengal asked the secretariat to transfer the money kept in his parliamentary bank account to the state treasury.
Resignation Linked to Balochistan Issues
Akhtar Mengal resigned from the National Assembly on September 3, 2024. He stepped down in protest over what he called parliamentโs response to Baluchistan’s issues.
His resignation from NA-256 Khuzdar was formally accepted by the Speaker of the National Assembly on February 11, 2026.
Mengal said he remains committed to honesty, transparency, and accountability in public service. His decision has drawn attention as a rare political move involving the return of public funds.
