Pakistan’s Women’s Junior Hockey Team has officially qualified for the Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2026, earning a place in the continental tournament after receiving formal confirmation from the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF). The qualification marks Pakistan’s return to the prestigious event for the first time since 2012.
The AHF informed the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) of the team’s qualification through an official letter. According to the federation, Pakistan secured its place based on its final ranking in the recently concluded Women’s Junior AHF Cup 2026.
AHF Confirms Pakistan’s Qualification
The Asian Hockey Federation congratulated Pakistan on qualifying for the upcoming championship. In its official communication, the governing body stated:
“The Asian Hockey Federation is pleased to congratulate the Pakistan Junior National Team on its successful qualification for the Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2026.”
The letter further added:
“The team has earned qualification based on its final ranking in the Women’s Junior AHF Cup 2026.”
The federation confirmed that the letter serves as Pakistan’s official qualification notice. However, participation will remain subject to the completion of all administrative requirements and tournament regulations.
Qualification Came Despite a Difficult Campaign
Pakistan endured a challenging campaign in the five-team Women’s Junior AHF Cup 2026. The team finished at the bottom of the standings after losing all four matches.
Pakistan suffered defeats against Hong Kong China, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Bangladesh during the qualifying event. Nevertheless, the tournament’s qualification system allowed Pakistan to secure a place in the Women’s Junior Asia Cup based on its final ranking.
Although the results were disappointing, the qualification offers the young squad an opportunity to compete against Asia’s strongest teams and gain valuable international experience.
PHF Asked to Confirm Participation
The Asian Hockey Federation has requested the Pakistan Hockey Federation to confirm the team’s participation before Friday, July 24, 2026.
The official letter stated:
“We kindly request your federation to confirm its participation by 24 July 2026 to facilitate the timely completion of all tournament preparations, including accreditation, travel, accommodation, scheduling, and other operational arrangements.”
The early confirmation will help organizers complete logistical arrangements well before the tournament begins.
Return to Asia Cup After 14 Years
If the Pakistan Hockey Federation formally accepts the invitation, Pakistan’s junior women’s side will compete in the Women’s Junior Asia Cup for the first time in 14 years.
Their previous appearance came in 2012, making this qualification an important milestone for women’s hockey in Pakistan. The tournament will also provide emerging players with an opportunity to compete at the highest level of junior hockey in Asia.
