Emraan Hashmi, Himesh Reshammiya and director Aditya Datt have reunited for the upcoming action-romance film Gunmaaster G9.
The trio previously worked together on the 2005 film Aashiq Banaya Aapne. Their latest collaboration has brought back memories of their earlier project.
The reunion comes with the release of the romantic track ‘Afsaana Banaaya Aapne’, featuring Emraan alongside actress Genelia Deshmukh.
Emraan Hashmi Recalls Aashiq Banaya Aapne
Speaking about working with Himesh and Datt again, Emraan said the reunion carried “a lot of nostalgia.”
However, the actor stressed that the new song was not created to recreate their previous work.
The track instead forms part of the musical world of Gunmaaster G9 and supports the film’s romantic storyline.
Written and composed by Himesh Reshammiya, the song features vocals by Himesh and Asees Kaur.
A short section of the track had already appeared near the end of the film’s teaser. The preview helped build anticipation for the complete song.
Genelia Deshmukh Teams Up With Emraan
For Genelia Deshmukh, Afsaana Banaaya Aapne marks her first collaboration with Emraan Hashmi.
“This is the first time I am teaming up with Emraan and what better way to do it than an Emraan and Himesh number in a film,” she said.
The pairing introduces a new romantic dynamic within the action-driven film.
Meanwhile, the song also brings together Emraan, Himesh and Datt after more than two decades.
Aditya Datt Reveals Eight-Month Music Process
Director Aditya Datt revealed that the team spent more than eight months developing the film’s music.
According to Datt, the team worked through extensive jamming, writing and creative sessions.
He also credited producer Deepak Mukut for bringing the collaborators together for the project.
The lengthy process allowed the team to develop a soundtrack designed to complement the film’s story and characters.
Himesh Reshammiya on Gunmaaster G9 Music
Himesh Reshammiya said the soundtrack was created specifically to match the world of Gunmaaster G9.
He explained that balancing the film’s narrative with songs that could also work as standalone listening tracks presented a challenge.
Himesh also praised Datt’s understanding of music and his involvement in shaping the soundtrack.
The result is expected to combine the film’s action and romance with a contemporary musical approach.
Gunmaaster G9 Release Date
Gunmaaster G9 also stars Aparshakti Khurana and Abhishek Singh alongside Emraan Hashmi and Genelia Deshmukh.
The film is produced by Deepak Mukut, Hunar Mukut and Sangeeta Ahir.
Aditya Datt has directed the project, which is presented by Soham Rockstar Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.
The action-romance film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 27, 2026.
With Emraan, Himesh and Datt reuniting, Gunmaaster G9 is also drawing attention for the nostalgia surrounding their earlier collaboration.
