Adil Salahuddin will assume charge as Standard Chartered Bank Pakistanโs new CEO and director on August 13. The appointment follows clearance from the State Bank of Pakistan.
Standard Chartered Pakistan announced the development through a filing with the Pakistan Stock Exchange. The bank said Salahuddin received the required Fit and Proper Test clearance from the central bank.
Salahuddin Brings Extensive Banking Experience
Salahuddin brings more than 30 years of banking experience to the position. He has spent 25 years working with the Standard Chartered Group.
During his career, Salahuddin has held leadership positions across markets, coverage and transaction banking. He has worked across several regions, including Pakistan, the UAE and Saudi Arabia.
His international experience has also given him knowledge of Middle Eastern and African markets. Standard Chartered appointed him as incoming CEO and director last month.
SBP Clearance Completes Leadership Transition
The Fit and Proper Test clearance confirms that a candidate meets regulatory requirements for senior banking positions. Salahuddin will officially begin his new responsibilities after receiving this approval.
Standard Chartered Bank Pakistan began operations after receiving SBP approval in December 2006. The bank was incorporated in Pakistan on July 19, 2006.
Standard Chartered Plc, incorporated in England, serves as the bankโs ultimate holding company. Standard Chartered Pakistan operates as a banking institution under Pakistanโs banking laws.
Salahuddinโs appointment brings extensive regional and international banking experience to the bankโs leadership. His new role will formally begin on Thursday, August 13.
