Adiba Anam, the daughter of an autorickshaw driver from Yavatmal, has made history by becoming the first Muslim woman from Maharashtra to enter the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
She secured an impressive 142nd rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024.
Hailing from the Vidarbha region—an area known for its agricultural hardships—Adiba’s achievement stands as a powerful story of resilience and perseverance. Her father, who never completed his own education, worked relentlessly as an auto driver to ensure his daughter had every opportunity to succeed.
Adiba graduated with a degree in mathematics before relocating to Pune to prepare for the UPSC exams. Her journey was marked by challenges, including two unsuccessful attempts and a third where she reached the interview stage but didn’t make the final list. Undeterred, she continued her efforts—and in her third attempt, she finally triumphed.
Her success not only marks a personal victory but also serves as an inspiration to countless others striving to overcome adversity in the pursuit of their dreams.
