Electricity Consumers
Sources have reported that changes to the electricity tariff, requested by distribution companies (DISCOs), may impose an additional burden of over Rs22 billion on consumers in the coming days.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority has been asked by DISCOs to raise the tariff by Rs1.30 per unit as part of the first quarter’s adjustment for the new fiscal year.

This increased burden would comprise Rs12.12 billion for capacity charges, along with Rs4.61 billion in maintenance charges, Rs6.61 billion in line losses, and Rs10.24 billion in system charges.
In recent months, electricity bills have already reached historic highs, leading to protests in various parts of the country.
The government attributes these high bills to the soaring costs of fuel, declining exchange rates, and increasing capacity payments. Overall, electricity consumers may face an additional Rs22 billion burden in the coming days due to changes in the tariff.
Pakistan Cricket Team Arrives In Kolkata Amid Uncertainty
Meanwhile,
The Pakistan cricket team arrived in the city of joy on Saturday evening, with few reasons to be joyful. They currently hold the sixth position in the World Cup points table, having won just two of their six matches. Their chances of making the semi-finals are very slim.
While Pakistan’s on-field issues persist, off-field problems have created a sense of suffocation and panic within the team, potentially contributing to their below-par performances.
After Pakistan’s one-wicket defeat to South Africa on Friday, former captain Rashid Latif claimed that Babar had been attempting to contact PCB interim Management Committee chairman Zaka Ashraf for two days but had received no response.
