Power Transmission
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has given the green light for a $250 million financial loan to enhance power transmission infrastructure in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.
Under the ADB’s Power Transmission Strengthening Project, the aim is to improve the reliability of electricity delivery by expanding the high-voltage transmission network.

The project will particularly concentrate on integrating 500-kilovolt (kV) and 220 kV transmission line loops. Additionally, it seeks to reduce transmission losses in Lahore, Punjab, through the replacement of outdated transmission lines.
This initiative aligns with ADB’s ongoing collaboration with the National Transmission & Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) and contributes to strengthening energy security, fostering climate resilience, and boosting transmission capacity to facilitate the deployment of sufficient, reliable, clean, and cost-effective energy.
NGO Sues Florida For Banning Pro-Palestine Student Group
Moreover,
The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has filed a federal lawsuit challenging Florida’s ban on pro-Palestinian university groups, specifically targeting the Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP).
The lawsuit argues that the state’s directive, endorsed by Governor Ron DeSantis, infringes on students’ free speech rights. The state’s order mandated the closure of SJP chapters at Florida universities, accusing the group of supporting terrorism.
The lawsuit seeks a preliminary injunction against the state order, which blocks SJP from receiving school funds and using campus facilities. At least two Florida universities, the University of Florida and the University of South Florida, have active SJP chapters. The legal action underscores the ongoing tensions on U.S. campuses regarding the Israel-Gaza conflict, with students divided over issues related to the conflict and accusations of inadequate responses by universities.
