In a groundbreaking move, Abu Dhabi has introduced a new online marriage service, allowing couples worldwide to get married through the government’s TAMM application—without ever visiting the emirate. The initiative marks a major step toward global digital governance and modern public services.
Marriage is Possible from Anywhere in the World
According to Mohamed Al Askar, head of the TAMM project, the service is open to everyone, regardless of nationality or location. He said couples can now “complete the entire process online without needing to visit any physical office.” The launch was announced during the Gitex technology fair in Dubai.
Fast, Simple, and Fully Digital Process
For 800 dirhams ($218), couples can fill out online forms, upload required documents, and book an official to conduct the ceremony—all within 24 hours. The platform also allows couples to host virtual wedding ceremonies, making the process both efficient and accessible.
Available for Residents and Non-Residents
The service is available to UAE citizens, residents, and non-residents, though non-residents will need a local lawyer or representative. Abu Dhabi remains the only Gulf state that permits civil, non-religious marriages, a right reserved primarily for foreigners.
Part of Abu Dhabi’s Digital Governance Vision
The marriage feature is part of the latest version of the TAMM app, which offers access to over 1,000 government services online. The initiative reflects Abu Dhabi’s ongoing efforts to enhance digital transformation, public convenience, and global accessibility.
